Revised Federal Identity Guidance includes Taproot Recommendations

NIST Special Publication 800-63 incorporated Taproot Security input in every revision

Saint Paul, MN, August 5, 2025 – The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) finalized its Special Publication 800-63 Digital Identity Guidelines (revision 4) after years of work and collaboration with outside experts, including Taproot Security who contributed extensively to Volume B Authentication and Authenticator Management.

"We provided feedback on previous 800-63 revisions and on every draft of this latest revision," said Taproot Security president Michael McCormick. "We thank NIST for listening and making changes we suggested. This is an important document that is widely used in both the private and public sectors."
