Taproot Security Founder Retires

Michael McCormick thanks clients, partners, friends

Saint Paul, MN, May 1, 2024 – Taproot Security founder Michael McCormick retired effective May 1. On March 26 he sent the following letter to clients and friends:

I’m writing to announce my upcoming retirement on May 1, 2024.

I left the corporate world in 2015 and launched Taproot the following year to offer affordable cybersecurity advice and support to nonprofits, B-corps, and humanitarian organizations.

Eight years flew by since then, and now I’m ready to start a new chapter. I’ll continue my work with global standards bodies at a reduced level, and perhaps blog occasionally, but otherwise I’ll step away from cybersecurity to focus on family, travel, volunteering, writing, and Tai Chi.

You do good in the world! By helping you, maybe I did a little good too. It’s been a privilege to work with each of you. I’m available for another month to answer your questions or tie up any loose ends.

Sincerely and warmly,

Mike McCormick
